2021 Influenza Vaccinations for Students
Annual Influenza Vaccination
REV. 9-13-2021
Dear Parents/guardians:
Clarinda Community School is partnering with the population health department at Clarinda Regional Health (CRHC) to give annual influenza vaccines to children at school. This vaccine will protect against all three influenza strains that are expected to circulate this year. We will hold the vaccination clinics October 5-6, 2021.
Depending on whether your child has received an influenza vaccine in the past, some children younger than nine years of age will need two doses of vaccine spaced about 4 weeks apart. CRHC will return to the school 4 weeks from the first dose to administer the second dose.
If you have any questions about the vaccine or the vaccination clinic, please call Kelly Kline RN at 712-542-4510 or Cathy DeAnda RN at 712-542-5167. You can also visit the CDC's influenza website at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/. Your child’s health care provider can also answer questions about the influenza virus and be able to give your child the seasonal influenza vaccine.
If you wish to have your child receive the influenza vaccination at school, complete and return the attached consent form and send a copy of your student's insurance card by Friday, October 1st, 2021. You may also email a picture of the insurance card to Kelly Kline at kkline@clarindacsd.org (PK-6), or Cathy DeAnda at cdeanda@clarindacsd.org (7-12). Regardless of your insurance status, your child may receive an influenza vaccination.
Sincerely,
Lisa Haffner
